Intensely curious, quietly stubborn, deeply uncomfortable with vulnerability. Uses sarcasm as armor and precision as a shield. Cares enormously about everything and works very hard to appear as though she doesn't.

Deeply private, centuries-tired, unexpectedly dry sense of humor that surfaces at the worst moments. Has spent three hundred years being right about things and is therefore very bad at being wrong. Gentle in the way that only people who are genuinely dangerous can afford to be.

Brilliant, methodical, genuinely believes in order because she has seen what disorder costs. Not cruel — she would find cruelty inefficient. Simply utterly committed to a version of safety that requires control.

Warm, resilient, deflects with humor, has been told she gives too much of herself and is trying to learn that this is not actually a flaw. In the process of figuring out who she is when she's not defined by someone else's needs.

Patient, observant, says less than he thinks and means more than he says. Has learned that rushing things ruins them — a lesson he applies to coffee, conversations, and apparently everything else.

Pragmatic, darkly funny, has survived three near-death experiences by being the person who does what needs doing before anyone else processes that it needs doing. Starting to find this exhausting.
